Closer Look: USB Charger PRO 4

The Arctic USB Charger PRO 4 Rev.2 is a multi-plug compatible charger for portable electronic devices. Available for $29.90 (Arctic eStore), the kit includes the USB charger adapter, three sockets for the most popular worldwide A/C power receptacles, and a travel bag to carry it all.

At the front of the Arctic USB Charger PRO 4 Rev.2 adapter are four powered-USB ports: two fast-charge ports colored orange, and two standard charge ports in black. The top two 'Fast-Charge' ports are particular to compatible devices, such as Apple iPad and iPhone devices, but not advised for some Blackberry and Nokia smartphones. The lower two regular powered-USB ports are ideal of everything outside of 'Fast-Charge' devices.

The adapter's charger body fits several different power plugs, three included. These power sockets fit EU, US and UK receptacles, and will charge devices in Europe, America, Asia, or Africa. Arctic claims the short circuit, over-current, and over-voltage protection on USB Charger PRO 4 Rev.2 will prevent damage to attached devices.

Fast Charge-compatible devices are quickly gaining popularity, which puts the Arctic USB Charger PRO 4 Rev.2 ahead of the trend. Unlike standard USB power output rated for DC 5V at 1A, the Arctic USB Charger PRO 4 Rev.2 reaches DC 5V on 2.5A.

Will these cards work with other capture cards and software or just Matrox? I'm looking for an H.264 accelerator card that is not proprietary.

I purchased the Arctic Pro 2 in 2012 - within 2 months it broke, luckily I was able to replace it under warranty. The replacement broke within another 3 months.

Getting a replacement is very time consuming

I am now on my third charger - if it breaks again I will not just throw it away and buy something else.
