OKI Data Americas OKI pro920WT Full-Color Printer Released

Delivering Transfer Printing Capabilities to the Specialty Printing and Imaging Technology Market at the 2012 SGIA Expo

OKI Data Americas announces its participation in the upcoming 2012 SGIA Expo taking place October 18-20, 2012 in Las Vegas, NV. There, they will demonstrate the OKI pro920WT commercial grade, tabloid/A3 digital color printer with high-quality color output - including white for textile transfers. The innovative pro920WT offers a compelling value proposition as a cost-effective alternative to screen printing with its speed, accuracy, size format and full color output. It will be demonstrated and available for sale within the Graphics One booth (121) along with the new 711WT desktop A4 digital color printer with white toner also from OKI Data Americas.

The OKI pro920WT operates at an impressive 31 ppm color/36 ppm mono , and employs High Definition Color printing technology with up to 1200 x 600 dpi resolution to deliver clear, sharp text and graphics for transfer or transparent media. The pro920WT is part of the impressive OKI proColorTM Series - a line of high impact digital color printers that serves the graphic arts, production, specialty printing and imaging technologies industries. The OKI proColorTM Series of commercial grade digital color printers delivers professional, production-quality color output and color accuracy powered by embedded EFI Fiery® and PANTONE® support on select models.

"OKI Data looks forward to the SGIA Expo and demonstrating the unique transfer printing capabilities of both the pro920WT and the new 711WT. These products underscore OKI Data's commitment to printing innovation and helping optimize performance for those in the specialty printing arena," said Rich Egert, General Manager of the Strategic Technology Provider Business Group for OKI Data Americas. "We are confident that the 711WT will be as well received in this market segment as the pro920WT has been, as OKI Data expands its presence serving the specialty printing and imaging space."

Graphics One is the authorized reseller of the OKI pro920WT, and also serves as national distribution partner for both the pro920WT and the 711WT throughout the US. These OKI Data printers compliment Graphics One's comprehensive line of transfer medias offered for the direct-to-garment, hard substrate, leather and sublimation markets.

According to Dan Barefoot, President of Graphics One, "The OKI pro920WT is an ideal solution for those requiring industrial-grade, high-speed transfer printing capabilities. The printer has been incredibly well-received since its introduction last year within our distribution channel, and we look forward to another successful show at this year's SGIA Expo."

More than 18,000 attendees are expected to participate in the SGIA Expo, where at least 530 exhibitors will showcase their products and services, representing the latest in specialty printing and imaging technology.

After months of waiting to receive this unit from the time we ordered it at SGIA in Vegas, here are our initial concerns about this equipment and the transfer media process.

1. Setup of Equipment - Easy Desktop
Unit. Was suppose to handle 8.5"x14",
but GO now says all they offer is Letter Size.

2. Toner sticks to drum after running previous copies,
So there is wasted paper stock at $2+ a sheet

3. The Transfer stock provided and the learning curve
for the transfer process for dark garments (2-Part Process)
Is VERY sensitive when it comes to your heat press. You
have to set a pressure for Transferring to A & B papers and
a different pressure for your B transfer to the garment.

4. The actual heat process according to GO's media is 45 sec.
from A paper to B paper, but then you have to try and peel these apart
before it cools down. Even leaving the medias on the platen and offsetting
the papers as GO suggested....VERY Difficult without some of the image
not transferring to B paper.

5. While GO representative did review the process so we would make sure
we did complete the process as instructions showed, the results after
10 times were basically the same...waisted time and materials.

6. While we did finally get a few white transfers to print without drum in residue,
and them transferring well, my final comment is... I believe the equipment is a viable
product, but it is too difficult with the media we received and that is what tells the final results. I guess that is one of the reasons the equipment was not actually being
Operated by GO at the show...My Bad...Bur now you know.
