SOYO DYLM24D6 Exterior

SOYO was the first name I ever learned when I became an enthusiast in the industry way back in 1998. That was forever ago, and now that I am in the golden years of my life at thirty-three. I am now more concerned with the better things in life, than getting ahead.

When I first treated myself to a 17" LCD display, I thought that I was on top of the world. While watching movies (all completely legal and of family orientation... of course) I discovered that if the monitor was just a little larger, I could really turn my computer into a dual-use system. Then SOYO went and changed their market focus, and nearly ten years later I am experiencing a downloaded movie (from Netflix) on the new 24-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor, model DYLM24D6 (SKU MT-GW-DYLM24D6).

SOYO has accurately determined that the middle-market demographic is ripe with opportunity, because it allows the every-man/woman to indulge within their financial means. I operate a successful business, and yet I still cannot seem to justify the thousand-dollar plunge into an expensive display, such as the Planar PX2611W 26-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor. More to my style and frivolous spending budget, is the SOYO 24-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor MT-GW-DYLM24D6, which cost less than half as much.

SOYO knows where the gamers sweet-spot is, which is why they offer the 24-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor as their largest entry into the monitor market. Although they produce plenty of larger LCD displays, which are marketed and sold as HDTV's, the MT-GW-DYLM24D6 is perfect for the person who wants to enjoy widescreen field of view while saving desk space with integrated speakers.

SOYO has included mounting points at the back of the MT-GW-DYLM24D6 to match the VESA 100 (100mm x 100mm) mounting format. A few days with the limited adjusting (very minor vertical tilt) stand, and I was ready to begin my second part search for the appropriate VESA 100 system.

Mid-level pricing begins to show, and proves that you are getting what you pay for and nothing more; sometimes that means taking from one to give to another. The stand is one area which barely qualifies as satisfactory, so let's hope that everything else shines as we look closer.

We had a lightning strike at our church that seems to have affected our Soyo 24 LCD monitors. They no longer pick up the VGA source that we had going before the strike and it now tells us "Unsupported mode" on the screen when in VGA connection mode.

What does "Unsupported mode" mean, and how can we get it operating again?

on your computer changes your monitor settings, your computer may display an ?Unsupported Mode? error. This error is usually on a completely blank screen, which does not allow you to view Windows normally for troubleshooting. You can fix this issue using Windows Safe Mode and by configuring your monitor settings.
