Closer Look: G.SKILL Ripjaws
The G.Skill Ripjaws F3-12800CL9Q-16GBZL memory kit is delivered in a plain brown cardboard box. Each DIMM is packaged in a separate foam sleeve.
Although the aluminum heat spreaders are not particularly tall, at 41mm they're still about 8-9 mm taller than low-profile memory such as the Corsair Vengeance LP or Kingston HyperX Genesis. If your X79 system is air-cooled, you'll want to make sure the cooler can clear these DIMMs.
The red aluminum heat spreader is a bold, eye-catching design that would show off well in a windowed case.
The label shows the XMP profile settings of 9-9-9-24 at 1.5v. Unlike other memory modules I've tested recently, these settings are clearly labeled as "XMP".
