FX-797A-TDBC Detailed FeaturesThe connectors available include one DVI, one HDMI, and two mini-DisplayPort. Below the ports is the card's exhaust vent, which XFX says provides double the airflow of other such vents. This seems unlikely.
The XFX R7970 Black Edition Double Dissipation video card has two PCI-E power connectors, an 8-pin and a 6-pin. However, solder pads on the back of the card reveal that a version with two 8-pin connectors may be forthcoming...
At the top of the card we can see the two CrossFireX connectors, indicating that the 7970 supports both triple and quad-card CrossFireX configurations. Just to the right is the BIOS switch, a handy feature that's become common on high-end AMD video cards. With the switch in one position, the card uses its default factory BIOS; in the other position, it uses a BIOS with user-flashed settings. This allows overclockers to experiment with high settings without the worry of "bricking" the card, since the factory settings are available with the flip of a switch. Wouldn't it be nice if NVIDIA cards had this feature?
There's not much going on at the bottom of the card, although you can see the power cords for the dual fans.
We'll cover the features and specifications of this card in the next section.
