VGA Testing Methodology

The Microsoft DirectX-11 graphics API is native to the Microsoft Windows 7 Operating System, and will be the primary O/S for our test platform. DX11 is also available as a Microsoft Update for the Windows Vista O/S, so our test results apply to both versions of the Operating System. The majority of benchmark tests used in this article are comparative to DX11 performance, however some high-demand DX10 tests have also been included.

GPUZ-NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-550ti.gifIn each benchmark test there is one 'cache run' that is conducted, followed by five recorded test runs. Results are collected at each setting with the highest and lowest results discarded. The remaining three results are averaged, and displayed in the performance charts on the following pages.

A combination of synthetic and video game benchmark tests have been used in this article to illustrate relative performance among graphics solutions. Our benchmark frame rate results are not intended to represent real-world graphics performance, as this experience would change based on supporting hardware and the perception of individuals playing the video game.

# Nice budget option,....RealNeil 2012-10-09 11:23
I like this card's performance, but I want something that will do SLI.
I'll probably spend more and end up with a matching pair of GTX-660s or if the finances permit, twin GTX660Ti cards.

And get a 20% Performance boost? Waste of money.

A pair of GTX-660s or GTX-660Ti in SLI are going to mean a heck of a lot more than 20% performance increase over just one of these GTX-650Ti cards.

Seeing as it's ~my~ money to 'waste' you should just get over it.

# My next video cardWade Eilrich 2012-10-09 11:55
Having decided to dump the Radeon line (because of abysmal customer service) I've been looking for a card that can drive three displays, is moderately priced, supports DirectX11, and has reasonable performance. The GeForce GTX 650 Ti looks like the perfect card for me.

I'm confused by the frequency in which I see people deemed a "Fanboi" of one brand or another because they had a bad experience with a company and refuse to give them their business. I'll never use CenturyLink for anything because about 15 years, USWest suffered from bad outages and their customer service was horrendous. Does that make me the opposition's "Fanboi"? From what Wade described, the GTX 650Ti seems to suit him perfectly. His personal disgruntlement with AMD is completely justified if he received poor customer service. I haven't had any problems with AMD, but you can bet if I did, I'd take my business elsewhere.

# Fanboys?RealNeil 2012-10-09 13:53
Not me,......I go by price plus performance. (price first) If AMD ~or~ NVIDIA want loyalty, they should go out and buy a dog.
I have three rigs here. One has two GTX-570s in it, one has two XFX Radeon R7770s in it in Crossfire, and one has a barely passable GT-240 in it.
I started using SLI and Crossfire about 6 months ago and never looked back. My crossfire setup is great and I have no problems with XFX's support.
I want the two GTX-660s (or 660Ti) for the main rig. Then the 570s move to #2 system, and the two Radeons move to the third box.

# Hmm..no regrets vs.660 performanceWuShu101 2012-12-29 04:10
Well, I Just recieved my Evga gtx650ti ssc 2gig today, and I am not at all disappointed in the performance/PSU*efficiency/$$ value over the 660gtx. Heaven bench 934(1680x1050)37.1fps....
Battlefield 3 Ultra(1366x768)44-77fps....
Far Cry 3 Very High(1280x920)20-30fps...erm..
Decent Performance for 280watt load consumption.. all at 72c to 77c...very pleased coming from an xfx AMD 6870 1-gig it outperforms.

# RE: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti Video CardB fanboy whats a fanboy ? hu? 2013-10-04 15:11
I ordered a MSI 650ti 1GB to replace a fried 5850. It looked good in the benchmark reviews compared to my old card. So at a good price I decided to get it.

# Better than my old 5850B fanboy whats a fanboy ? hu? 2013-10-10 14:37
I finally got it. Newegg had a outstanding price on it. around 98 bucks after rebate 123 bucks before rebate. And it was delivered fast in 6 days and I used the free delivery called eggsaver. Anyway I have the MSI-650ti and I noticed a slight improvement in benchmarks. Also it runs at only 25`-34`Celsius so it has plenty of room for overclocking. I wonder if the boost versions run at around 33`-45`Celsius? If so you can save a few bucks just using afterburner on the regular TI.

# plans changeRealNeil 2013-10-04 15:21
So I ended up getting two EVGA GTX-680s from a friend. I still have the two GTX-570s, and just got two Diamond Radeon HD-7870's secondhand. They all work great for me, The 2600K systems both have GTX SLI and the FX-8350 has Crossfire 7870s in it.

I'm set for a good long time now and happy with all three boxes. When my Grandkids come over, we have a blast with them.
