If you enjoyed the AMD Fusion Media Explorer Freeware Tool preview Benchmark Reviews offered a few weeks back, then you'll be happy to know that the AMD Fusion Media Explorer has entered a public beta phase of development today. This free multimedia library organizer is an excellent tool for anyone who keeps several websites, images, and video or music files on their computer.

The AMD Fusion Media Explorer Beta 1 Version 0.9 can be downloaded directly from AMD courtesy of Benchmark Reviews.

General

This utility is being released as a beta version and, as such, may have additional bugs or errors that are not outlined in these release notes and which result in system instability, data corruption or incorrect operation of the software or computer system in which it is implemented. Note that you must accept the terms of the associated AMD Fusion Media Explorer Utility Beta software agreement prior to using.
We are looking into these issues, and new releases are planned to be available on the AMD LIVE! web site

Operating Systems Supported:

The following Operating Systems have been tested to work with AMD Fusion Media Explorer:
- Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit and 64-bit editions)
- Windows Vista Ultimate (32-bit and 64-bit editions)

The following Operating Systems have not been tested but are believed to work with AMD Fusion Media Explorer:
- Windows Vista Home Basic
- Windows Vista Business
- Windows Vista Enterprise

The following Operating Systems are not yet supported with AMD Fusion Media Explorer:
- Microsoft Windows XP (any version)
- Microsoft Windows Home Server
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 (any version)
- Microsoft Windows 7 Beta
- Linux

Known Issues:

Caution: The AMD Fusion Media Explorer application has not been tested on every possible hardware combination available in the market today. Pre-release testing was performed using a variety of AMD platforms including:
- AMD AthlonTM 64 X2 dual-core processors
- AMD PhenomTM X3 processors
- AMD PhenomTM X4 processors
- AMD Phenom IITM X4 processors
- AMD 6xx and 7xx chipsets
- ATI RadeonTM 3xxx and 4xxx GPU family products

Application:

  • To view live TV with a TV tuner, you will need to turn of Windows Vista User Account Control (UAC) and reboot your machine
  • Occasionally the Beta version of AMD Fusion Media Explorer will crash
  • Any web forms that are partially filled out will lose their data if the application crashes. Other data loss may also occur.
  • Any uploads that are in progress will abort if a crash occurs
  • There are many UI glitches in the installer and the application, and we are working to clear these up
  • You need the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player for related online media and other software features
