Final Thoughts and Conclusion

Final Thoughts

D-Link is one of the highly recognized companies for designing wired and wireless networking products. DWA-652 is another example of an excellent product they have designed. I would have loved to see the DWA-652 only cover one PCMCIA slot, but I would not hold it against them because to my knowledge Wireless N is still a growing technology and I have not seen any other company making a Wireless N adapter that would only cover one slot, and hopefully we will shortly start seeing products of that particular type in a few months.

Conclusion

DWA-652 was overall a very solid product from a very reputable company. The adapter was a pleasure to work with, and required easy software installation and simple plug in. I was surprised to see that the software installation allowed me to choose whether if I wanted to use the built in Windows Zero Configuration utility, which is a great option to have. I personally prefer the WZC utility for the ease of use it has to offer. I also prefer the black and silver finish which goes along with most of the notebooks, other than that the product has nothing special to offer other than it's functionality, great range, and superb speed.

The adapter also comes with free basic version of Network Magic software, also a very handy software tool to manage network computers and files. If you already have a Wireless N router and you are shopping for a wireless adapter than I will highly recommend this adapter, it will allow you to download very close to a dedicated Ethernet connection, I can't recommend this to someone who does not have a Wireless N router, as it will have nothing special to offer. The only negative I can think of is the current price. The adapter could be purchased for US $85 online, which is really a high price to pay for a wireless adapter. If you want the best speed than it is certainly a price worth paying for.

Pros:

+ Easy installation
+ User friendly software utility
+ Connection up to 300mb/s
+ Great range
+ Compatible with Wireless B & G routers
