You will never get the raw, random read speed. Of ssd even if you put 4 hdds together. One ssd can be 50. Times faster at 4k rand writes. This imparts a "snappyness" that is likely unachiavable with hard drives. Not to say hdds can't be made much faster with tips in this article, but it just won't excell everywhere a ssd will.
